Brave Irene - Steig

This book was quite long but quite the adventure. Irene's mother was a dress maker. Her mother wasn't feeling well but she put the finishing touches on the dress for the ball that was to be worn at the palace. She was too weak to take it there and a winter storm coming. Irene bravely volunteered. I love as she is struggling with her precious package how the author describes the wind. It gives it character and life - wind is quite the tease if you read this book. :) I love the happy ending as she reaches the palace and is rewarded for her efforts and then mother and daughter are reunited. Good book and good illustrations.
