Knots on a Counting Rope - Martin & Archambault

The way many nations preserve their memories, their history is by story telling and I love it! They make it easy to remember for their children and this book captures this art so well. It is about a grandfather telling his grandson one more time about the time he was born. He tells him of the events, he tells him of what was said and it gives the boy courage as he faces life in the darkness because he is blind to hear how he is loved, to hear of his accomplishments and to hear how he can succeed. When the story is finally told they put another knot in the rope reminding of how many times the story has been told.
